Volcano Winery, located just outside of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, is America's southernmost winery and one of only two in the islands. Home to some of the most unusual wines produced anywhere in the world, it specializes in tropical fruit blends and honey wine.

Fourteen acres of Symphony grapes are grown in the vineyard and harvested, fermented, bottled and sold on the premises. The Symphony grape, which is a hybrid of the Grenache Gris and Muscat of Alexandria, is used for the winery's dry and semi-dry whites. But the winery is best known locally for its signature tropical fruit blends. Rounding out the wine selection is a dessert honey wine, which is made with 100 percent honey, yeast and water. No grapes.

Volcano wines are available online and can be shipped to some states. They can also be found in select stores on most of the Hawaiian islands. Wine tasting is available daily. The winery is open 365 days a year from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It's located about three miles south of Volcano Village, off Hwy. 11, between the 30- and 31-mile markers. Turn north onto Pi'i Mauna Drive and go to the end of the road (about one mile).
